Girl Scout Cookies
It's that time of the year again!! The Girl Scouts are out selling cookies. I personally haven't had girl scout cookies since I was a Girl Scout so I am not very familiar with the cookies they sell. I didn't know this about the cookies but apparently they are mostly the same cookies across the country but they have regional name differences. In Massachusetts they are called:
I noticed that they now have "100 calorie snack packs" which is a good way of selling more cookies. I remember when I had to sell candy, women would say they couldn't buy it because they were watching their weight. Now they have no excuse and if they do not want to buy the cookies they will have to say no to their sweet innocent little faces.
If you like these cookies I recommend going to support the Girl Scouts. To make finding them easier, here is a list of dates and locations.

I started thinking about the life skills these young girls are learning from selling these cookies. The Girl Scout website says these girls are learning:
I think learning these skills are important but are they really learning all this from cookies? And why sell cookies? Why not sell something healthier or something to help the environment? It's tradition that's why. The Girl Scouts don't really care if you are obese and keep stuffing yourself with transfats. The cookies are good and the little girls are cute, who can resist?
