Cookie Monster Eating Fruit?
OH MY GOD! Dr. Cohen sent me a link to a news article about cookie monster eating fruit. This is just wrong. You cannot call a character the cookie monster and have him eat fruit. Sesame Street should have Elmo or Big Bird eating fruit but leave Cookie Monster alone; cookies are his thing.
I can see what they are trying to do. Childhood obesity rates are on the rise and I guess Cookie Monster would be a good role model. His eating habits are unhealthy and if he can learn to eat fruit then anyone can. The article says they are trying to teach him to eat in moderation but he still is going to scarf down food. I don't think the show should worry too much about trying to teach the children to eat healthy because it should be the parents job to smack the cookie out of their chubby child's hand. As long as Sesame Street puts their name on healthy snacks and juices then they aren't responsible for the obesity of America.

It's ridiculous, kind of. I didn't look at Cookie Monster as a kid and emulate him going I WANT COOKIE RARRRRR. He's Cookie Monster. Children don't want to grow up to be monsters. Or maybe they do. Who knows. Regardless, parents should be able to control what their kids eat more than a fake puppet.
Didn't they try to make Oscar the Grouch recycle now by getting rid of his trash barrel and putting him in a recycling bin?
